PSYPACT Participating States

What PSYPACT Means for You

If you live outside of New York, New Jersey, or North Carolina and you’ve been looking for a DBT skills group you can join from home, PSYPACT makes that possible.

The Psychology Interjurisdictional Compact (PSYPACT) allows licensed psychologists to practice telepsychology across participating state lines. At Kind Mind Psychology, this primarily means our DBT skills groups — which run three evenings per week — are accessible to clients in over 40 states. If you live in a PSYPACT state, you can join our groups without needing to find a local provider.

Kind Mind’s DBT groups cover all four skill modules — mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness — over a six-month cycle. They are neurodivergent, LGBTQ+, and BIPOC affirming. You don’t need a BPD diagnosis to join — DBT skills are effective for emotional dysregulation, anxiety, depression, ADHD-related emotional intensity, impulsive behavior, and relationship difficulties. All group members must be in concurrent individual therapy, either at Kind Mind or with an outside provider.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is PSYPACT?

PSYPACT is the Psychology Interjurisdictional Compact — an agreement between participating states that allows licensed psychologists to provide telepsychology services to clients across state lines. It means you don’t have to find a therapist in your specific state to access certain services.

What Kind Mind services can I access through PSYPACT?

The primary service available through PSYPACT at Kind Mind is our DBT skills groups. These groups run three evenings per week and cover all four DBT skill modules over a six-month cycle. If you’re in a PSYPACT state and looking for structured skills training, this is what PSYPACT makes possible for you.

Do I need a specific diagnosis to join a DBT group through PSYPACT?

No. You don’t need a BPD diagnosis or any specific diagnosis. DBT skills are effective for emotional dysregulation, anxiety, depression, ADHD-related emotional intensity, impulsive behavior, self-harm, and relationship difficulties. You do need to be in concurrent individual therapy — either at Kind Mind or with your current therapist.

Can I see an individual therapist at Kind Mind through PSYPACT?

PSYPACT applies to our licensed psychologists providing telepsychology. For individual therapy, Kind Mind primarily serves clients in New York, New Jersey, North Carolina, and Delaware through state-specific licensure. The most common use of PSYPACT at Kind Mind is for DBT skills group access. Contact us to discuss your specific situation.

Does my insurance cover PSYPACT sessions?

We accept UnitedHealthcare (UHC) for DBT group services. Coverage through other insurance plans for PSYPACT sessions varies. Contact your insurance company to confirm whether they cover telepsychology services provided under PSYPACT. We also offer sliding scale and can provide out-of-network superbills.
