Charlotte is growing fast, and the relationships here are growing more diverse along with it. Whether you’ve been together for decades or you’re navigating a newer partnership, whether you’re married or dating, monogamous or not, Kind Mind Psychology offers couples therapy that meets your relationship where it actually is.
We work with all relationship structures: married and unmarried partners, LGBTQ+ couples, interracial and intercultural partnerships, polyamorous, ENM, and kink-involved couples, and blended families. Charlotte’s affirming therapy options are growing, but finding a couples therapist who has genuine expertise across this range of relationships is still rare. That’s what Kind Mind brings.
Communication breakdowns and recurring conflict. Trust violations and the work of rebuilding after infidelity or betrayal. Emotional distance and loss of connection. Mismatched desire and intimacy challenges (we integrate sex therapy when needed). Life transitions: relocation, parenthood, career changes, retirement, opening a relationship. Navigating cultural or racial differences within the partnership. Discernment: deciding whether to stay together or separate with clarity rather than reactivity.
Our therapists use CBT, DBT, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and IFS depending on what your relationship needs. When individual trauma is affecting the partnership, we integrate EMDR. When sexual concerns are part of the picture, our founder’s AASECT certification means we can address those directly rather than referring out.
All sessions are virtual for Charlotte-area clients and anyone in North Carolina.
We accept Aetna, Cigna, and Blue Cross Blue Shield for North Carolina clients. Sliding scale from $25. Visit our Insurance & Fees page for details.
Yes. Kind Mind was founded on a commitment to affirming care for LGBTQ+ individuals and couples. Charlotte’s LGBTQ+ community deserves therapists who understand the unique challenges queer couples face, and that expertise is built into every clinician on our team.
Yes. Our team has clinical expertise and lived experience working with interracial and intercultural couples navigating the specific dynamics that different racial and cultural backgrounds bring to a partnership, including family expectations, communication styles, and the impact of racism on the relationship.
Yes. Virtual couples therapy allows both partners to log on from wherever they are. This is common for couples with different work schedules or those living apart temporarily.
