If you’ve been looking for a DBT skills group you can attend from home, Kind Mind Psychology runs virtual DBT skills groups three evenings a week, available to clients across all PSYPACT states. That’s 40+ states. You don’t need to live near our offices in New York or Charlotte to join.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills training covers four core modules over a 6-month cycle:
Mindfulness teaches you to observe your emotions without being consumed by them. Distress tolerance gives you tools for surviving emotional crises without making them worse. Emotional regulation helps you understand, reduce, and manage intense emotions day to day. Interpersonal effectiveness teaches you to communicate your needs, set boundaries, and maintain relationships without losing yourself.
These skills are the evidence-based standard for borderline personality disorder, but they’re equally effective for emotional dysregulation, ADHD-related emotional intensity, anxiety, depression, impulsive behavior, self-harm, relationship instability, and trauma responses.
Mondays at 6:00 PM ET — Group Leader: Dr. Alexey Breuss Wednesdays at 6:30 PM ET — Group Leaders: Wenzhen Li, MHC-LP and Dr. Monica Johnson Thursdays at 6:00 PM ET — Group Leaders: Shay Nabi, MHC-LP and Dr. Monica Johnson
All groups are BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and neurodivergent affirming. You’ll need the DBT Skills Training Handouts and Worksheets by Marsha Linehan.
You can join a Kind Mind DBT group if you live in any PSYPACT-participating state. You can be a current Kind Mind client combining individual therapy with group, or a client seeing an individual therapist elsewhere who wants to add skills training. If you’re not currently in individual therapy, you’ll need to see one of our clinicians while in group.
We accept UnitedHealthcare (UHC) for DBT group services, as well as Aetna and Cigna for clients in our licensed states. For full details, visit our Insurance & Fees page.
