Finding a qualified sex therapist in Charlotte can be a challenge. Finding one who is AASECT certified, affirming of all identities and relationship structures, and genuinely comfortable talking about the full spectrum of human sexuality is even harder. That’s what Kind Mind Psychology offers.
Our founder, Dr. Monica Johnson, PsyD, is an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist, holding the highest professional credential in the sex therapy field. She and the Kind Mind team bring the level of specialized training that most general therapists simply don’t have when it comes to sexual health, desire, intimacy, and identity.
Sex therapy at Kind Mind addresses the concerns that often go unspoken:
Low or mismatched desire. Difficulty with arousal, orgasm, or sexual pain. Performance anxiety. The impact of trauma on your sex life. Sexual identity exploration. Navigating intimacy in LGBTQ+ relationships. Sexual dynamics within polyamorous, ENM, and kink relationships. Shame, guilt, and negative messages about sex. Reconnecting sexually after life changes, medical issues, or infidelity.
We work with individuals and couples of all orientations, gender identities, and relationship structures. The Charlotte area has a growing need for affirming, specialized sex therapy, and Kind Mind is here to meet it.
Sex therapy is talk-based therapy. Nothing physical happens in session. Your therapist uses evidence-based approaches including CBT, EMDR, DBT, and Sensate Focus to help you understand what’s happening, address the root causes, and build a sexual life that feels good and connected.
Sessions are available virtually for all Charlotte-area clients, as well as anyone in North Carolina.
We accept Aetna, Cigna, and Blue Cross Blue Shield for North Carolina clients. Sliding scale starts at $25 per session. For full details, visit our Insurance & Fees page.
